I'm really in love with this guy, and everytime I hear this song I think of him. What is completely ironic, is that he is two months sober, and I had exactly two requirements for a partner: Must love wine, and must love dogs. When I paid more attention to these lyrics, they weren't about booze, they were about choosing love over booze. And they perfectly capture our relationship, and what he was going through before we met. Constantly getting "numb". I have no doubt that he is a completely different person now than when he was drinking. He looks different, the people that know him and see him now seem to be completely amazed that he isn't drinking.

I'm not going to lie, it's hard for me. We went to Yosemite the other day and I was constantly thinking how much I would normally enjoy a bottle of wine in the middle of the meadow; or how much I want to pour a Gin and Tonic and sip it by the creek together on one of these warm nights; or how much more fun I was having getting shitfaced and watching the Warriors with strangers at one of my favorite bars.

I went three days without a drink and amazed myself. I don't know how it's going to work out. I hope it does. I pray to god that he stays on this path while I'm in Italy, whether or not we stay together. If it's meant to be it will, and I just have to put all of my faith in that.

I used to spend my nights out in a barroom Liquor was the only love I've known But you rescued me from reachin' for the bottom And brought me back from being too far gone

You're as smooth as Tennessee whiskey You're as sweet as strawberry wine You're as warm as a glass of brandy And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time

I've looked for love in all the same old places Found the bottom of a bottle always dry But when you poured out your heart I didn't waste it 'Cause there's nothing like your love to get me high

You're as smooth as Tennessee whiskey You're as sweet as strawberry wine You're as warm as a glass of brandy And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time
