We meet at Forge, the plan is to watch the Warriors game and grab dinner. Finance is attractive, and incredibly tall. By his features I still can’t tell if he’s Indian or Black, turns out he’s half Jewish and half Black. He’s a gentleman, he’s funny, we end up talking through the game. He’s in finance, it’s all he’s ever done. He grew up in a wealthy family, he’s spent time all around the world for his parents careers. He’s got a young son that he’s obsessed with, a successful ex wife that he doesn’t have to pay child support or alimony to. Half way through dinner he ends up sitting next to me in the booth. We talk about marriage, I tell him I’d be willing to get married tomorrow. I was a great wife, and I have nothing against marriage, I just want to find the right one next time. I’m not sure about him, but I really enjoy being with him. I’m sure the Warriors won, they always do. During the night we drink Manhattans and I end up ordering us an awesome bottle of wine. We share a pizza and fried cheese curds. Before we know it we’ve been there for five hours. The bill comes, and I pay attention to how long he looks at it before I offer to split it. He says no, but thanks me for offering. We’ve been there so long that valet is gone and we’ve got to hunt down my keys. I don’t expect him to stay and help, I’m awkwardly independent like that but he does. He’s an incredible gentleman. He pays cash for my car when we finally find someone that can retrieve it for me and while we’re waiting he tells me he’s going to kiss me. He does, it’s sweet. It’s kind of perfect.
Later he calls me and tells me that his friend had just told him that if a girl offers to pay, she's had a bad time, but he thought we had a good time. I told him that I had a great time, I'm just sensitive about my financial independence, and I've heard from too many of my guy friend's that women just use Tinder to get free dinners. I'm an incredibly generous person, but looking back, I wish that I'd set a precedent for having the man pay. Almost all of my female friend's agree. What do you think?
